Welcome to the Gottsupedia
This is a source of information about Japan and related topics, with a particular emphasis on history and the martial arts. Currently content is heavily focused on Japanese history and aikido, however I do plan to branch out into many other Japan-related topics.

What is the 'Gottsupedia'?
"Gottsupedia" stands simply for "gottsu-iiyan.ca Encyclopedia" or the "Gottsuiiyan Encyclopedia", and is intended as a source of information about Japan and related things, mostly history and the martial arts. Here's what I think the gottsupedia is at the moment:
As far as policy, although I plan to keep things as objective as possible, until I have at least a handful of informed contributors this will remain less an Encyclopedia and more an IANcyclopedia.
Although I may touch on controversial subjects, the goal is to eventually present topics from a variety of different view points and ultimately have the reader decide what they believe. There are multiple sides to every story and I'd like to have as many of them as possible.
What's doing
As you can see by the list of top categories, so far this is mostly articles on Japanese history and martial arts, mainly aikido. Please check the Recent Changes link to the left for an idea of what's been done lately.
Currently expansion, correction and citation of existing articles is the focus of work, particularly on the anchor articles, such as History of Japan from where other history topics will branch out. You may notice that a handful of articles are the same or similar to those in wikipedia. This is temporary and every single one of them is in various stages of being researched and rewritten. So far history and aikido are my main priorities. That's not to say an article on Olympic water polo accidents won't be posted on a whim, but I'm going to try to stay the course and plug the major holes and add pieces where they are most needed first.

How to Contribute
- I am very open to user contributions and used to have this wiki open to new users. However, even with email authentication, endless spam has forced me to restrict new user account creation. Current accounts will remain as they are (except for the spam ones, of course, which will be removed), but new users will no longer be able to create accounts on their own.
