The man who opened the door to Major League Baseball for Japanese players, Hideo Nomo, announced today on his official website that he is retiring.
Every Japanese player in the major leagues should be tipping their caps to Nomo today.

You were a pleasure to watch, a role model and a pioneer. Most of all Nomo was, and is, a true gentleman who always put his team before himself in a sport that has been taken over by crybabies and primadonas.

From a someone who grew up playing and loving baseball, thanks Nomo!
